What’s changing
Metcash Technology Channel Standards require stores to operate on supported, secure and compliant systems. This includes:
2D barcode scanning capability
Secure, compliant POS environments
These changes are designed to ensure stores can continue to operate effectively as product, payment and security requirements evolve.
Good reasons to act now
Lock in today's pricing
Equipment costs are rising due to global supply pressures. Stores that move early will secure better pricing – it's first in, first served.
Claim the $20,000 Instant Asset Write-Off
Eligible small businesses can write off assets up to $20,000 each under the ATO's FY2025–26 scheme. The limit applies per asset, meaning multiple upgrades can each qualify individually. With the deadline falling on 30 June 2026, there's a real opportunity to offset the cost of compliance upgrades – but only for stores that move quickly.
What this means for your store
Across the network, upgrades may include:
Scanner scales (2D capability)
POS hardware and peripherals
Mobile and in-store devices
